Congratulations on your website. Looks great and will provide a terrific forum for residents to raise issues of concern to them.
Tweed Shire Council refuses to replace these Brush Box trees, that grow to 30 to 40 metres in this, their natural environment, with a more suitable species. If they are not replaced before they grow any higher both residents and Tweed Shire Council will experience a lot of grief. Council's Manager Recreation Services claims this not their natural environment. Queensland Dept of Primary Industry's website advises that their natural environment extends from Newcastle NSW to Maryborough Qld, placing The Tweed pretty close to the middle of the Brush Box natural environment.
I have posted 2 photos in the Photo Gallery, of trees, which are of concern to the residents of Yarra Close, Flame Tree Park. The trees are Brush Box which are rain forest dwellers, not street scaping trees. These trees will grow to a height of 30-40 metres, as this is their natural habitat. the root system is invasive as the tree is a water seeker. This can be seen in Yarra Close with the root systems already exposed above ground in these young (8-9 years) old trees. These root systems will cause uplift of the footpaths in the short term, creating considerable expense to Council. The potential to damage underground services exists and damage to property is possible.
What is Council going to do about this problem? NOTHING.
My advice to the residents of Yarra Close is that they should notify their insurance companies as a matter of disclosure, in case of future claims. Insurance companies are bound to ask Council their intentions, as a means of protecting their premiums, who knows what might eventuate.
In the meantime I will contact Council Parks and Gardens to see if some sense may prevail re removal.

Your website is excelent - portrays the relaxed lifestyle of the Tweed and the interest and commitment of the Community association.
Your correspondence regarding the Tweed Civic Centre is of interest to me and I would like to discuss this further.

Compare the Murwillumbah photos with the Banora ones to get an idea if we are being short changed. The largest ratepayer base gets the smallest amount of investment. WHY???
Have a look at the photos of the entrance to Banora Point. It has been a disgusting mess for years. Murbah gets all the funding for beautification.
